Utopia in progress?
HTC are set to unveil the next generation HTC One at their launch event on March 1st. Under the words Utopia in progress. This could be a hint at the new name of the flagship device, or it could just be a catchy title. It could be something else entirely of course.
It is merely speculation at this point (although very strong speculation) but the HTC One M9 will have an octa core Qualcomm 810 Snapdragon chipset beating at it’s core. 3GB of RAM with it’s octa-core 64-bit Snapdragon 810 processor. This would have four cores running at 2.0GHz and four at 1.5GHz. Slower cores would do the less intensive work and conserve battery, with the other cores ready to take over the heavier workloads. Further rumours place a 20MP snapper on the back on place of the much maligned Ultrapixel type on the current M8. Instead the Ultrapixel 4 UP camera may be reserved for the front shooter.
Further rumours say the phone will have Dolby 5.1 Audio tech built in.
Power wise they say it will sport a 2840 mAh battery, which is larger than the M8’s.
HTC may be sticking with the tried and trusted 5 inch screen and 1080p technology. This wouldn’t be a surprise and it would be applauded by many who feel the race to add more pixels at this stage is unnecessary and wasteful. Indeed a QHD screen consumes more battery, and it is debatable as to whether you can really see the improvement.
